Single Facer Corrugating Roll

The corrugating roll is the core forming component of the corrugated cardboard single facer, known as the "heart" of the single facer, which directly determines the shape, strength, quality, and paper consumption of the corrugated cardboard.

Corrugating roll are a pair of alloy steel rolls that mesh with each other, have wavy teeth, and are heated by steam inside. They are installed in the middle of the single facer and are responsible for: pressing flat corrugated paper into standard corrugated (wavy) paper.

Main Features of Corrugating Roll

1. Two rollers: upper corrugating roll and lower corrugating roll.

2. The roll surface has regular wavy teeth (ridges).

3. Internally hollow, heated by high-pressure steam.

4. The material is alloy steel, treated with nitriding, and has high hardness.

Main Function of Corrugating Roll

1. Forming (the main function) compresses corrugated paper into standard flute such as A/C/B/E/F.

2. Heat the steam to quickly gelatinize and bond the adhesive on the corrugated roof.

3. The shaping ensures that the corrugated height is consistent, does not collapse, and does not deform.

4. The conveyor drives the corrugated paper to move continuously and steadily forward.

Single Facer Pressure Roll

The pressure roll is the rubber roll responsible for "pressing and bonding" in the single facer. It works together with the corrugating roll to stick the corrugated paper to the surface paper.

Structure of Pressure Roll

1. A steel core+surface coated roller (rubber/polyurethane).

2. Installed next to the lower corrugating roll, closely attached to the lower corrugating roll.

3. It is pressurized by a cylinder or hydraulic pressure to press the corrugating roll tightly.

Three Specific Functions of Pressure Roll

1. Pressure bonding provides uniform pressure, allowing the glue to solidify without delamination or opening.

2. Ensure a smooth and even fit, allowing the corrugated paper to fully adhere to the surface without bubbles, wrinkles, or warping.

3. Control the gap without collapsing or breaking the paper, ensuring the height and strength of the corrugated board.

So the corrugating roll is responsible for creating waves, while the pressure roll is responsible for sticking the waves onto the surface paper.
