Air Expansion Shaft for Corrugated Cardboard Production Line

The air expansion shaft used in corrugated paper production lines is the core component for carrying, locking, and transmitting paper rolls on the mill roll stand, glue coating machine, slitting machine, and rewinding machine. It achieves rapid roll change and stable tension control by inflating, expanding, and releasing air.

Main Function of Air Expansion Shaft

1. Mill roll stand (unwinding): fix the corrugated paper or box board paper roll core (3-inch/6-inch paper tube), inflate and tighten to prevent slipping, deflate and quickly change the roll; Control the unwinding tension to prevent deviation, paper breakage, and loose rolls.

2. Gluing machine/laminating machine: carrying surface paper/inner paper/core paper roll, ensuring synchronous tension, smooth adhesion, and no bubbles or wrinkles during lamination.

3. Slitting machine (winding): winding narrow corrugated paper, constant tension winding, neat end face, and no loose winding.

4. Rewinding machine: The load-bearing and transmission of finished corrugated paper rolls are suitable for high-speed, wide width, and large weight working conditions.

Working Principle of Air Expansion Shaft

Inflate and tighten, deflate and retract, torque transmission, and quickly change coils.

1. Inflation (0.5-0.8MPa): The airbag inside the shaft is inflated, and the push key or lug protrudes radially, biting the inner wall of the paper tube tightly. The shaft rotates synchronously with the paper tube without slipping.

2. Deflation: The airbag retracts, the key strip/tile retracts, the paper tube is easily removed, and the roll change is completed in about 3 seconds.

Type of Air Expansion Shaft

Key type air shaft:The expansion part consists of multiple independent key blocks or convex keys, distributed along the axis circumference, usually consisting of 3-10 equally divided key strips.

air shaft

Lug type air shaft:The expansion part is a full-length plate or segmented tile, arranged continuously or semi continuously along the axial direction, forming a uniform support surface.
